The Burning Forest

I'm being attacked every single day. The flames rush over me and all I can do is succumb to this force that is taking my friends and family by storm.I struggle to breathe as one being. It's like I'm a pair of lungs but one is compromised. If the flames aren't rushing over me then something else is in my way. Perhaps it's a man taking an axe to my body so he can commit genocide on my species. Wipe us out so new businesses and housing can be put in our place. My body was a shelter for other species. Birds would sit upon my arms crooning their love songs. The songs are silent now. I am being attacked. Soon me and my friends will be an endangered species. Please leave us alone. Let us flow in the breeze.
